Planning a Comprehensive Blended Method Classroom Program for Students on the Autism Spectrum

This 2.5 day workshop will provide information on Asperger’s Syndrome and High Functioning Autism. Topics covered include: characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome
and the implication and needs of the student with Asperger’s in an educational setting. Each participant will receive a training manual. Cost: $375 per
registrant. School districts sending 3 or more is $350 per registrant. Note: Certificates of training & 14 hours of direct instruction towards CEUs will
be issued to participants at the conclusion of the workshop.

Improving Employment Outcomes at any Age

The Kentucky Autism Training Center will mark the tenth anniversary of its Autism Institute with a series of lectures for parents, educators, vocational
professionals and prospective employers. The third event in the series will be held July 29-30 at the University of Louisville Shelby Campus in Louisville,
Kentucky. This interactive learning experience will walk teachers and vocational rehabilitation professionals through an effective service delivery process
from intake and assessment to planning for long-term support for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, (ASD). General session topics will feature;
a basic overview of characteristics and strategies for supporting Individuals with ASD, an overview of the transition process, strategies for working with
families, program staff, employers and older individuals with ASD, the promotion of social competence, self-advocacy, self-determination and how issues
related to sexuality may influence vocational outcomes. Participants will be able to choose from two tracks: Serving Students In School, or serving Adults.
They will then follow a case study that includes small group activities for appropriate assessment tools, interviewing techniques, successful job match
and mediating the challenging behaviors that influence successful vocational placement. Target Audience: Middle & High School Educators, Vocational Professionals
and Employers. This event is co-sponsored by Families for Effective Autism Treatment(FEAT), Community Employment, Supported Employment Training Project
and Vocational Rehabilitation

Sensory Processing: Implications to Behavior and Learning

This workshop will explore sensory processing issues and the impact on behavior and learning, especially for individuals with autism spectrum disorders

knowledge in this area. Participants in this workshop will become familiar with the types of sensory challenges that can affect learning and can escalate
behaviors. We will also look at environmental modifications to support students with sensory processing difficulties.

A free workshop for teachers who will have children with visual impairments in their fall classes for the first time. It is designed to share hands-on,
practical teaching techniques and adaptation ideas needed to make the most of limited resources. We will review specific visual impaairments and explain
how each distinguishing factor impacts a student's ability to function in a regular classroom setting. We will also demonstrate technology that is available
for children with visual impairments. Some of these devices may be available through federal quota funds at no cost to the school district. There is no
